Houston, We have a Problem!

Being sleep-deprived makes a person cranky, moody and just affects a whole bunch of body functions. It is a rubbish feeling but for astronauts who dedicate most of their lives in space, it is one of the worst feelings. A number of astronauts in the International Space Station (ISS) are suffering from insomnia. Though there are medications, we certainly do not want drug-induced astronauts to work on the future of our planetary system.

NASA thinks so too, which is why they came up with the idea of using LED lights to produce moods that can induce natural drowsiness. This is similar to the treatment of Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) where light therapy is used to improve the mood of those affected with the disorder. Blue light is used to enhance energy in those affected with SAD where in the astronauts with insomnia will be treated with red lights to induce sleepiness.

The lights are still subject for testing and hopefully, we won't be worried about the future of our Universe being dealt with zombie-like astronauts.

Making San Francisco Bay Bridge Glow like a Star

When we think of San Francisco, an iconic bridge pops into our mind. The iconic San Francisco Bay Bridge has long been providing about 270,000 vehicles everyday to and from the bridge. Marking its 75th Anniversary, the bridge will be made into a star and will glow even brighter during evenings using 25,000 LED Lights.

Though the grand unveiling of the lights will take place in March next year, Ben Davis, chairman of Illuminate the Arts, the group who's in charge of the project is very excited to talk about the lights.

Leo Villareal, the lighting designer, famous for his lighting designs of museums and the Burning Man, will take charge of the lights.

The Bay Lights will not be completely finished and is estimated to take two years for completion but Davis and his group are very enthusiastic about it and has even showed what the Bay Bridge will look like with 25,000 LED lights glowing brightly along the span of the bridge.

Partying and Clubbing the Cool LED Way

No matter what the occasional, people always have this urge to stand out in a crowd. When you go clubbing, you don't have to wait anymore for men or women to come to you because this time, you are the one who will be calling out for their attention with LED light-up skirts and tube tops.

The Senorita LED mini skirt and the Maria LED boob tube are sold separately but each piece comes with their own set of lights in colors of red, green, blue and white. And if you still think you're being ignored, the LED lights can go party mode too with effects such as static, strobe, flashing and graded.

The LED lights on these two pieces of clothes are said to last for eight hours long, all set for partying all night.

So the next time you think you are being taken for granted in a club, don't just sit and sulk in that corner. Turn the lights on and party harder and we mean that literally.

Freerunning + LED Lights - A Whole Lot of Awesomeness

LED Lights have always been cool. The fact that these lights come in different shapes and sizes and that it consumes less energy than traditional incandescent lights makes it so awesome and not to mention, so green. Mix it up with some freerunning or otherwise known as parkour and you have the complete definition of coolness.

Team Farang members Jason Paul, Shaun Wood and Anan Anwar or otherwise known as the Light Emitting Dudes ran (jumped, tumbled, rolled etc.) through the streets of Bangkok visible only through the use of LED lights. The fast-paced video was taken and directed by Frank Sauer.

Imagine some colored dudes suddenly running and whooshing past you. These dudes just made the streets of Bangkok even more vibrant, colorful and interesting.

It makes people aware of both the sport and LED lights which are both not yet fully recognized by a lot of people.

In the Empire State of Lights

Something's new in New York. Could it be a new restaurant? Or maybe just another one of those signature clothing shops but no it isn't. Clue: It's so noticeable and it's tall! Yes, you've got it right. The iconic Empire State Building has unveiled its new LED lights just in time for Christmas.

The new LED lights of the Empire State Building boasts of several different special effects like ripples, waves, strobes and many more which is so unlike the old LED lights that only showed ten colors.

Alicia Keys sang her all time theme for New York, "The Empire State of Mind" while the lights were being unveiled to the public for the first time.

Anthony Malkin and his family who control the iconic skyscraper, beamed with delight as he proudly said that it was well received by a lot of the locals and even those from other places like New Jersey because it was clearly seen from the area as well.

The building was interesting before and it became even more eye-catching. Bet next election would really be a blast as it will again show the tally of votes just as it did with Obama and Romney.

Is it a Bird? Is it a Plane? No, it's LED Lights!

The airplanes taking off and landing is really a sight to behold and it makes watching someone you love go away more dramatic. But behold! It's not just airplanes you are going to watch anymore. Heathrow Airport has finally unveiled its latest project, an LED lighted ceiling that is designed to mimic daylight.

The ceiling used 800 LED lights and the mood it creates will let passengers relax while waiting for their flight. Heathrow Airport in London was originally opened by the late Princess Diana but has been dubbed as one of Europe's worst airport.

The design has been receiving good reviews from passengers rating the terminal as excellent. Princess Di was beautiful, both inside and out, and her projects should not be ignored just because she's gone.

The Airport will soon see other improvements and hopefully they'll again employ the use of LED lights.
